Training programme for managers of drug & alcohol practitioners

A training package for line managers comprising:

• "Understanding Management" - a distance learning course from the Open University (OU);
• "Supervision, appraisal and DANOS" and "Performance management" one day workshops detailed below;
• "DANOS Demystified: Developing & Demonstrating Competence" e-learning course.

Understanding management

A distance learning course from the Open University about the theory and practice of management within an organisation. The course starts four times a year, in March, June, September and November. Each course lasts a maximum of 20 weeks, although students can take less time if they wish to. The OU estimates that students would need to spend a maximum of six hours per week studying. Supervision, appraisal and DANOS

A one day workshop for line managers and HR directors covering supervision, appraisal and development of front line staff against DANOS and other national occupational standards. It is run by Tim Morrison and Fiona Hackland - both experienced trainers and experts in DANOS, and members of The Competence Group. Performance management

This one day workshop for line managers and HR directors builds on the "Supervision, appraisal and DANOS" workshop (outlined above), and focuses on managing and developing practitioners' performance against DANOS and other national occupational standards. DANOS Demystified: Developing & Demonstrating Competence

Essential training for all workers and managers in the drugs and alcohol field. This 60-90 minute online training course covers: competences and national occupational standards (including DANOS), role profiling, competence-based appraisal and development, and demonstrating competence.
