FDAP Qualifications: Introductory Certificate for Drug & Alcohol Counsellors
Introduction
The Introductory Certificate for Drug & Alcohol Counsellors is a professional certification from FDAP and Alcohol Concern, aimed at counsellors in training and volunteer counsellors working in alcohol and drugs services.
Criteria
To be awarded the Introductory Certificate, counsellors will need to meet the following criteria:

100 hours of formal counsellor training;

60 hours of supervised practice in counselling people with drug or alcohol problems;

Evidence of competence in the four "core units" from the Drug & Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS), PLUS "Counsel individuals about their substance use..." [DANOS-AI1] and "Make use of supervision" [DANOS-AC2].

Costs
The application fee is £50 for FDAP members/affiliates and members of Alcohol Concern, £75 for others (please note, this is non-refundable).
